I have a 6 month old male shih tzu and he will not eat regular dry dog food. Wet food gets his face all nasty and we have to go out of town for a couple of days. We have to leave him at the boarders. He has to have some other kind of food in it for him to eat it. If he doesnt eat he throws up. I dont know what to do!
lol. i have a 6 year old shih tzu, and for a couple years all he would eat was puppy food. i dont know if this helps you, but it tells you that shih tzus are picky eaters. even today hes real picky about it.

Millions of dogs go their entire lives never eating commercial foods. They are loaded with poor quality and species anappropriate ingredients and have been linked to many health conditions. Dry foods are NOT better for teeth – this is an urban myth – in fact commercial foods are the direct cause of 80% of our pets having periodontal disease by the age of three. Toy dogs are notorious for bad teeth and crowded mouths so it is very important to prevent this through proper diet.
As you are only going be away for a few days start with some pre-packaged raw but as soon as you get back start feeding real food. By real I mean raw meaty bones (chicken thighs, drums etc), raw meat (beef, chicken, pork, fish & heart) and organs such as kidney and liver.
