we want to get my little boy shih tzu poodle a girl shih tzu poodle. he thinks he is the king of the house an were afraid he would get jealous but we think he is lonley during the day. How do these dogs interact with each other?
I hate when people say just adopt a shelter dog and the same breath tell you your dog is not predictable cause its a mutt. NO dog it predictable and rescues aren’t for everyone. They sure arent going to be predictable.Chances are I wouldn’t get a dog from a rescue. I think they are great but its a personal decision.
Ok now you never know if they will get along or not until you try. I think most dogs have the potential to get along with any other breed or mixed breeds. Pick a dog suitable for your lifestyle and that wont be too big to pick on your current dog. good luck.

Get him neutered if he is not already done. There is no predicting what mutts will turn out to look like, act, temperment, health, etc. Your mutt/mixed breed is who he is. The next one can be totally different in everything.
Just go adopt a shelter mix and pick out a personality that will match your dog’s personality.

Give them time to get acquainted and they should get along fine. You should get them fixed tho cause otherwise you will have some unwanted surprises.

honestly, get another boy unless you plan on breeding. In my opinion boy dogs seem to get along better with other boy dogs.

Yes, your dog will be jealous at first, but give it time and they will be best friends.
I have a shih-poo and she is about 6 years old. I have brought several dogs into my home and she accepts each of them. She totally ignores them at first and then in time they become friends.
I sold one of my shih-tzu puppies to a lady and we became really good friends. She later came back and bought another puppy from me. Her dog was jealous of the new puppy and it took about 2 weeks for them to become best friends.
They will work things out and I think it is a good idea to get another dog so they will have each other when no one else is at home.
I think a girl and a boy would do better together. They would have more of a bond.
My shih-poo is just the best! She is so smart! I can see why you like them so much and are considering getting another one!
If you cannot find a shih-poo you might consider a shih-tzu…
